Implant Consultation.
Get answers before you commit.

You do not need to arrive knowing which implant you want. Bring your questions about eating, appearance, cost and the treatment you may have been putting off.

Start with what matters to you.

I have several very different quotes.

Bring them along and ask what each plan includes or leaves out.

I was told I have too little bone.

Ask what evidence supports that finding and whether another approach is reasonable.

I feel embarrassed about my teeth.

Tell the team before the visit. You can start with a conversation about your priorities.

Understanding Implant Consultation.

An Implant Consultation is an assessment and discussion of ways to replace missing teeth. It is not a promise that implants are suitable, and booking a consultation does not commit you to surgery.

What a useful consultation should explain.

Your Mouth

Teeth, Gums & Bone

The clinician examines the area and decides whether X-rays or a 3D scan are justified.

Your Choices

Implants & Alternatives

Discuss an implant crown, bridge or denture alongside options without implant surgery.

Your Plan

Stages & Responsibilities

Ask who provides surgery, final teeth, reviews and support if something goes wrong.

What Happens During Treatment.

Your dentist confirms the stages and timing for your own treatment plan.

  1. Talk About Your Goals

Explain what is difficult about your current teeth and what you hope to change. Bring your medication list and any questions about anxiety, costs or time away from work.

  2. Examine and Investigate

The dentist checks your mouth and existing teeth. X-rays or a 3D scan may be recommended to assess bone and nearby structures; ask whether these cost extra.

  3. Compare Your Choices

Discuss keeping teeth where possible, dentures, bridges and implants. Ask what the proposed treatment would involve, including temporary teeth and healing.

  4. Take Away Your Plan

Request written stages, costs and aftercare information. You can consider the plan before agreeing to treatment.

The exact appointments and recovery time depend on your assessment and the treatment agreed with your dentist.

Your Options with This Treatment.

  1. Initial Consultation

    Explore suitability and next steps.

    What records should I bring?

  2. Second Opinion

Review a proposed plan with another clinician.

Can you explain the alternatives on the same basis?

  3. Restorative Assessment

Consider bridges or dentures as well.

Could I meet my goals without implants?

Things to Consider.

Bring your medicine list and relevant medical history, including smoking and previous gum problems. Do not change medication for the appointment unless the responsible clinician advises it.

Your Implant Consultation questions.

Do I need a 3D scan at the first visit?

Not automatically. The clinician should explain what imaging is needed and why.

Can I choose the implant material myself?

Ask about titanium and ceramic systems, but suitability depends on the clinical plan, not material preference alone.

Can I decide later?

Yes. Ask for the plan in writing and take time to understand it.
